Sophomore Covie Stanwick scored a team-high four goals, but No. -/20 Boston College lost to No. 4/4 Northwestern, 17-10, at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill., on Wednesday night.

Stanwick scored three goals in the second half while sophomore Mikaela Rix and freshman Kate Rich each scored two goals in the game for the Eagles (2-3, 0-0 ACC).

For the Wildcats (4-1, 1-0 ALC), Erin Fitzgerald and Amanda Macaluso scored five and three goals respectively. NU head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller earned her 200th career win with the victory.

The Eagles registered the first goal of the game as Stanwick scored off a Sarah Mannelly assist just under three minutes into the contest. On the play, Mannelly ran from left to right across the arc and passed back to Stanwick just outside the crease who then found the back of the net.

Northwestern scored the half's next nine goals from 24:07 to 4:38 to stake a 9-1 edge. With 3:40 left in the first, Rix notched BC's second goal of the game and ended the half's scoring on a free position shot starting from the left wing of the arc.

Stanwick opened the second half's scoring on an eight-meter shot 20 seconds into the stanza. After NU scored twice more, Cali Ceglarski connected on a shot to the lower left corner of the far post to bring BC within 11-4 with just over 25 minutes remaining.

The Wildcats added another tally before Stanwick scored twice in a row to cut NU's edge to 12-6 with 15:00 to play. On the first goal Stanwick received a pass from Rix inside the arc and converted before posting an unassisted tally on a low-angled shot.

After four straight goals from Northwestern, Rix won a draw and charged straight to the net to score and make it 16-7 with 4:35 remaining. Rich scored two goals and Moira Barry scored once inside of the last three minutes while NU added one more tally for the final margin.

Next, Boston College plays in its ACC opener at Virginia Tech on Saturday at noon.
