Lacrosse Defeats Canisius, 14-5

NEWTON, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse team grabbed a 14-5 win over Canisius in Newton, Mass. this afternoon.
The Eagles are 2-0 on the season while the Golden Griffins fall to 1-1.
Freshman Brooke Blue helped get the Eagles off the ground by scoring the first two goals of the game for BC, finishing the day with six. She currently leads the team with 11 goals this season.
Junior Kristin Igoe and seniors Mary Stinson and Lauren Costello added tallies for the Eagles before Blue recorded her third goal of the game with seconds remaining before halftime. BC would take a 5-0 lead into the second half.
The Eagles burst forth in the second half, notching eight straight goals to make the score 13-0 before Canisius was able to tally anything for itself. Sophomore Katherine Caufield and senior Suzanne Cannon scored their first two goals of the season while Sam Taylor recorded a tally for the Eagles as well.
Junior goalie Sheila Serafino added four saves for the Eagles in the winning effort, as BC outshot Canisius, 31-11.
The Eagles will next travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on Jacksonville on Tuesday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m.
