Dec. 9, 2013
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Goaltender Corinne Boyles was named Women’s Hockey East Defensive Player of the week for the second straight week as announced by the league on Monday.
The Wheaton, Ill. native stopped 35 of 36 shots (.972 save percentage) in the 1-1 tie at No. 4/5 Harvard on Saturday. It marked the second straight game that Boyles had made at least 35 saves, as she stopped a season-high 39 shots against No. 3 Cornell in a 4-1 victory in the team’s previous game.
Boyles is now 9-4-1 on the season and ranks second among Hockey East netminders in both save percentage (.930) and goals against average (1.95) in 15 games this year. This marks the fourth time this season, and second straight week, that Boyles has garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Boston College (12-4-2, 7-1-0) is entering a month-long break before returning to action January 8 at Boston University.
