Skarupa and Boyles Receive Hockey East Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore forward Haley Skarupa received WHEA Co-Player of the Week honors, goaltender Corinne Boyles received WHEA Defensive Player of the Week, and the Eagles were named WHEA Team of the Week as announced by Hockey East on Monday.
Skarupa scored two goals and had one assist in BC's 5-1 victory over Maine on Sunday night. She lit the lamp for the second time in the game with a short-handed goal on a breakaway. The SHG was the third of her career, tying her for third all-time at BC with Maggie Taverna. Skarupa also recorded a game-high nine shots and had a plus minus rating of +2.
Boyles, a grad student from Wheaton, Illinois, stopped 18 of 19 shots (.947 save percentage) against Maine. She earned Defensive Player of the Week honors five times last season.
The second-ranked Eagles started the season with a conference victory and are now unbeaten in their last 13 home games (12-0-1). The last home loss came on October 25 against Minnesota Duluth. The Eagles dropped the contest 3-2.
Boston College returns to action this weekend when it hosts St. Lawrence Friday night (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday afternoon (2:00 p.m.).
