Skarupa Makes Her Mark as the U.S. Sweeps Canada

CALGARY, Alberta – Incoming BC freshman Haley Skarupa pitched in with two assists as the U.S. National Under-22 team swept Canada in a three game series at the Winsport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex.

Skarupa assisted on Kelley Steadman’s goal in game one on Thursday and registered the assist on Marissa Gedman’s game winning goal in game two on Friday.

The Rockville, Md. native participated in the eight day 2012 Women’s National Festival in Blaine, Minn. alongside 10 current and former Eagles: Molly Schaus, Kelli Stack, Megan Miller, Blake Bolden, Emily Pfalzer, Alex Carpenter, Emily Field, Taylor Wasylk, Dana Trivigno, and Lexi Bender.

The U.S improved to 5-7-3 all-time against Canada in this series and snapped a 13 game streak without a regulation win over Canada.  The U.S. Under-22 team last defeated Canada in regulation in game one of this series in 2004.
