BLAINE, Minn. – Incoming Eagles Freshman recruit Haley Skarupa has been named to the U.S Women’s National Under-22 Select team for a series against Canada from August 16-19 in Calgary, Alberta.
Skarupa, the Rockville, Md. native, has finished her fourth season with the Washington Pride of the JWHL and has taken gold and silver at the 2011 and 2010 IIHF World Championships respectively.
Haley was one of 79 participants in the 2012 Women's National Festival which also included current Eagles Megan Miller, Lexi Bender, Dana Trivigno, Blake Bolden, Alex Carpenter, Emily Field, Taylor Wasylk, and former Eagles Kelli Stack and Molly Schaus.
Game one kicks off on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST, game two will follow on Friday at 9 p.m. EST, and game 3 will take place on Sunday the 19th at 12 p.m. EST.
This will mark the fifth time the U.S. and Canada had clashed in this event since 2006 with the U.S. holding a 2-7-3 record in those games.
