Colorado Springs, Colo. – Nine current members and two Boston College women’s ice hockey alums have earned an invite to the 2012 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival from August 5-13 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
Former Eagles goaltender Molly Schaus and forward Kelli Stack join a cast of nine current Eagles consisting of: Megan Miller, Blake Bolden, Emily Pfalzer, Alex Carpenter, Emily Field, Taylor Wasylk, and newcomers Dana Trivigno, Lexi Bender, and Haley Skarupa.
The USA Hockey Women’s National Festival will generate the squads chosen to participate in the Under-18 series vs. Canada and Under-22 series vs. Canada on August 16-19.
Former Eagles and current members of the Boston Blades of the CWHL, Kelli Stack and Molly Schaus, are coming off excellent seasons in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Stack tallied a 25-goal and 17-assist campaign while recording a team-high plus/minus rating of +35. Schaus was strong between the pipes as she finished the season with a 16-7 record with a 2.38 GAA and .910 save percentage in 23 games for the Blades.
This year will mark the second consecutive festival invites for Blake Bolden, Alex Carpenter, Megan Miller and Taylor Wasylk.
2012 signees Lexi Bender, Haley Skarupa, and Dana Trivigno highlight an exciting incoming class for the 2012-13 season. Bender, the Snohomish, Wash. native, has had experience training with the U.S. Developmental Camp and National Tryout camps over the past few seasons. Skarupa, the Rockville, Md. native, has finished her fourth season with the Washington Pride of the JWHL and has taken gold and silver at the 2011 and 2010 IIHF World Championships respectively. Trivigno, the Setauket, N.Y. native, took gold at the 2011 IIHF Under-18 U.S. National team.
