Women's Hockey Headed to NCAA Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women’s hockey team punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season in an announcement made by the NCAA on Sunday night. The Eagles were awarded the #6 national seed in the tournament and will take on #3 seed Clarkson in NCAA Quarterfinal action at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. Saturday at 4 p.m.
The winner will go on to play either Cornell or Mercyhurst in the Frozen Four on March 21 in Hamden, Conn.
The Eagles last play the Golden Knights on January 3, 2013. BC earned a 5-1 road victory in which three current student athletes scored goals: Emily Pfalzer, Dana Trivigno, Taylor Wasylk and Melissa Bizzari. Corinne Boyles made 29 saves in the game to earn the win.
Boston College earned its sixth overall selection to the NCAA Tournament after a program best 27-6-3 season. BC earned bids in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, including three consecutive Frozen Four appearances. Under hockey East Co-Coach of the Year, Katie King Crowley, BC won its fifth Beanpot title and first Hockey East regular season title in school history.
