CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore forward Alex Carpenter earned Athletic Republic Player of the Month accolades for her performance in the month of February as announced by the Hockey East on Tuesday.  Carpenter’s second monthly recognition comes after taking home the same honors in January.

This month proved to be full of milestones for the North Reading, Mass. native as she reached the 100-point and 50-goal marks in February.  Carpenter set a new school record in single-season scoring with her power play marker against Vermont on Feb. 23 – shattering the previous record of 64 points by Erin Magee in 1995-96.  With season totals of 31 goals and 36 assists, she helped the Eagles achieve their best offensive season (151 goals) and the most wins (25) in team history.  Carpenter’s February performance saw her tally 10 goals, seven assists and a +10 rating over eight games played.

On Monday, Carpenter also received an invite to the U.S. National Team Training Camp set to be held in Lake Placid, N.Y., March 25-31.  The camp will determine the roster for the 2013 IIHF World Championships held in Ottawa, Ontario from April 2-9.

Carpenter and the Eagles will be back in action on Friday night for their Hockey East Quarterfinal matchup against Maine at 7 p.m.
