Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College women’s ice hockey team remained at No. 4 on the latest USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. Last week, the Eagles (23-8-3, 15-3-2 Hockey East) swept Vermont, 2-0, 4-0, to close out the regular season.
The USCHO.com poll showed no movement for the first time all year. Wisconsin received 12 of 15 first-place votes to remain No. 1, while No. 2 Minnesota and No. 3 Cornell picked up one and two first-place tallies, respectively.
The USA Hockey Magazine poll also remained largely unaltered. Boston University moved up to No. 9 trading with No. 10 Minnesota-Duluth on the final week of the regular season.
BC’s 23 wins matched the school record for regular season victories. Twenty-four wins is the program standard, set during the 2010-11 and 2006-07 seasons. In league play, 15 wins is the most under Head Coach Katie King Crowley, the winningest coach in school history.
The Eagles earned a bye in the first round of the Hockey East Tournament. BC awaits the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals taking place Feb. 25-26. The Hyannis Youth and Community Center will host the 2012 semifinals and championship game (tickets).
