Carpenter Named WHEA Rookie of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College women’s ice hockey freshman Alex Carpenter was named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week in a conference announcement on Monday. This is the third time the center from North Reading, Mass. has been recognized as a player of the week by the league.

Last weekend against Vermont, Carpenter scored twice and posted one assist, leading the Eagles with 21 shots on goal. The three-point performance against the Catamounts on Saturday was the second of her career.

Carpenter leads Boston College with 35 points (18g, 17a) and ranks fifth nationally among rookies for points per game at 1.09. She was one of the 30 nominees for the 15th Annual Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award named earlier on Monday. Teammate Blake Bolden was also included on the list.

Boston College closed out the regular season 23-8-3, earning 32 points in Hockey East play with 15-4-2 mark. Twenty-three wins ties the school mark for victories in the regular season and the 15 Ws in league contests is the most under Head Coach Katie King Crowley.

The Eagles begin postseason play on Saturday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. BC earned a bye to the semifinals of the Hockey East Tournament and will play the highest remaining seed from the first round. Pack Network will stream both semifinal contests live on hockeyeastonline.tv.
