Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The fourth-ranked Boston College women's ice hockey team closes out the regular-season with a pair of skates against Vermont at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18 in Kelley Rink. Nine seniors will be recognized prior to the start of Saturday's contest.
The Eagles (21-8-3, 13-4-2 Hockey East) are looking to finish one of the most successful seasons in school history with a pair of wins over the Catamounts (4-20-6, 9-14-2 HE). Both skates can be streamed live through bceagles.com.
The regular-season title is still up for grabs as Boston College trails Northeastern (21-6-3, 14-3-2 HE) by two points in the conference standings. NU will meet Providence (14-15-3, 11-7-1 HE) in a home-and-home tilt Friday and Sunday, Feb. 19. The Friars are currently fourth and just one point behind BU (18-3-1, 12-7-0 HE) for the third seed. The Huskies won the first meeting, 2-1, back on Jan. 15.
BC requires only one point to earn a bye to the semifinals of the Hockey East Tournament in Hyannis, Mass. from March 3-4. However, tournament pairings are yet to be determined heading into the final weekend of play.
Seniors Andrea Green, Kiera Kingston, Jessica Martino, Kristin Regan, Mary Restuccia, Megan Shea, Allison Szlosek and Danielle Welch will be honored in pre-game ceremonies. At 75-41-24, the group is the second winningest class to ever come through the BC program. Only the class of 2009 won more games during its tenure, going 80-43-18.
