#2 Women's Hockey Soars North

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The #2 women's hockey team (19-4-2, 12-2-1 WHEA), fresh off a 2-0-0 weekend, will return to action Saturday night to take on the Maine Black Bears at Alfond Arena.
The Eagles edged Providence 4-3 last Saturday on late goal by Melissa Bizzari and followed that up with a resounding 8-0 victory over UConn on Sunday.
Alex Carpenter registered five points against UConn, including her second hat trick of the season while sophomore goaltender Megan Miller notched the first shutout of her career. Carpenter received Athletic Republic Player of the Week Honors for the third consecutive week and also earned Player of the Month honors with her 24-point performance in nine January games.
Carpenter leads the Hockey East in scoring with 50 points and is currently riding a league record 23-game point streak.
The Black Bears (4-18-3, 1-11-2 WHEA) enter the contest coming off a 1-1 tie at UConn Saturday before dropping a 9-2 decision at Providence on Sunday. Senior Brittany Dougherty leads the way for the Black Bears with 11 goals and 17 assists while Brittany Ott (3.60 GAA, .900 save %) claims all four of Maine's wins this season.
The teams have met twice this season with the Eagles completing a weekend sweep of the Black Bears in December by a combined score of 17-2. BC leads the all-time series 24-15-6.
The Eagles will kick off the 35th Annual Beanpot Tournament on Tuesday against #3/4 Harvard at Matthews Arena. Puck drop is slated for 5 p.m.
