Jan. 28, 2014
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass – Senior forward Taylor Wasylk was named Warrior Hockey Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced by Hockey East on Monday. The Port Huron, Mich. native recorded five points and a +4 rating in the weekend sweep of New Hampshire.
Wasylk started off her great weekend with a three-point performance in the Eagles’ 5-3 home victory over UNH. All three points (two goals, one assist) came in the first period, propelling BC to an early 3-0 lead over the Wildcats. She scored her first goal from just outside the crease, burying Dana Trivigno’s feed from behind the net under the arm of UNH’s goaltender. Her second goal came seven minutes later when she fired a one-timer that she put between the netminder’s legs for her seventh goal of the season.
The 5’10” forward continued her hot streak the following day in the team’s 3-2 victory in Durham, N.H. when she notched a goal and an assist. Wasylk tied the game at 1-1 when she backhanded a rebound into the net at 4:55 of the first period, and she assisted on Emily Pfalzer’s game-tying goal in the second period.
Wasylk’s great weekend ended a four-game scoreless drought. She connected with new line mates Kate Leary and Dana Trivigno, who were all moved up to the top line and contributed 14 points (5-9-14) and a combined +11 rating in the two weekend games.
Boston College (18-4-3, 13-1-1) held their position at No. 7 in the national polls, and will play Providence at home on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
