Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Sophomore forward Alex Carpenter was awarded Athletic Republic Co-Player of the Week honors alongside Northeastern’s Kendall Coyne in an announcement made by the Hockey East on Monday.
The Reading, Mass. native took home the honors for the third consecutive week and fourth time overall this year for her performances this past weekend against Providence and Connecticut. Carpenter recorded seven points over two games this weekend, including her second hat trick of the season in the BC’s 8-0 win over the Huskies on Sunday.
For the season, Carpenter has tallied 50 points in 25 games including a current 23-game point streak that is the longest in program history. Carpenter leads the Hockey East in scoring and is fifth overall in the NCAA in scoring behind Amanda Kessel (Minnesota), Hannah Brandt (Minnesota), Christine Bestland (Mercyhurst), and Jocelyn Lamoureux (North Dakota).
Carpenter and the Eagles will be back in action on Saturday night in Orono against Maine before opening round action of the 35th Annual Beanpot kicks off on Feb. 5 against #3 Harvard.
