CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 7 women’s hockey team (14-4-3, 9-1-1 WHEA) will host Vermont (9-10-4, 5-4-1 WHEA) Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18 at Kelley Rink. Both games will start at 2 p.m. The contests will mark the second and third times the two teams have faced off against one another this season. The Eagles earned a 6-1 victory at Vermont on Nov. 8 in the first matchup.
The Eagles are coming off a home-and-home series against Northeastern in which BC skated to a 1-1 tie at home and then rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Huskies 3-2 at Matthews Arena. Haley Skarupa notched her team-leading 14th goal of the season in the first game, while the Eagles got goals from Emily Pfalzer, Kristyn Capizzano and Meagan Mangene in the second game. The true star of the weekend was co-captain Corinne Boyles, who played between the pipes in both games and stopped 91 of 95 shots (.958 save percentage). The Wheaton, Ill. native leads Hockey East in goals against average (1.83) and save percentage (.935).
The Catamounts split a two-game home stand with UConn over the weekend, winning the first game 3-0 and dropping the second contest 2-0. Netminder Madison Litchfield made 24 saves in her first shutout of the year, while Delia McNally, Amanda Pelky and Brittany Zuback all scored for Vermont.
BC is unbeaten in its last 11 games against Vermont (8-0-3) and holds a 21-1-3 record dating back to 2004. In the teams’ last meeting earlier this season, the Eagles netted six goals on 53 shots and were lead by Emily Field (two goals) and Boyles (30 saves).
Following the two game against UVM, Boston College will play in a home-and-home series against UNH on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26. Both games will start at 2 p.m.
