No. 10 Women's Ice Hockey Defeats Syracuse 5-2

Syracuse may have been an even match for the Boston College women's ice hockey team through the first two periods, but an explosive third period ultimately put BC on top as three goals in the third secured a 5-2 win for the Eagles.
After ending the second period deadlocked at 2-2, BC's Mary Restuccia broke the tie 18 seconds into the third period. Restuccia collected a pass from Taylor Wasylk and Kelli Stack on a power play and fired the shot past Orange goaltender Kallie Billadeau to take the lead 3-2.
It didn't take long for Restuccia's teammates to follow her lead. Thirty-eight second later at 00:56, Kelli Stack scored her third goal of the game to up the score to 4-2, with assists from Wasylk and Blake Bolden.
BC's final score came at 5:09 as Wasylk scored her second goal in as many games, assisted by fellow freshman Meagan Mangene. Syracuse was unable to respond to BC's three rapid-fire goals.
The Orange struck first when Isabel Menard found the back of the net at 12:07 in the first period. Stack put two home in the second to take a 2-1 lead after nine minutes on the ice, but Syracuse's Julie Rising recorded a second goal at 16:02 to tie it up.
Molly Schaus had another decisive game in net, turning away 21 shots in her second win of the season.
The Eagles held a 39-23 advantage in shots, with eight in the third period to the Orange's four.
The win wraps up BC's weekend on the road and starts the season at 2-0, while Syracuse falls to 1-1-1 after its first loss of the season.
Game Notes: Boston College takes a lead in the all-time series, 1-0-1...the last time these two teams met, it ended in a 3-3 tie after an overtime period...BC's rookies turned out another impressive game, including Wasylk's goal and three assists, Danielle Doherty's two assists, and Mangene's assist...the Eagles offense is led by Wasylk (2-3-5) and Stack (3-2-5)...both were named Stars of the Game.
