Despite the layoff, Miller was sharp in the second period, stoning the Friars on a few golden scoring chances. Shots on goal after 40 minutes were 19-17 in favor of Providence.
Both teams clamped down defensively early in the third period but Providence broke through on goal by Brooke Simpson that popped up and over a surprised Miller at 11:55.
BC killed off a Friars power play and then went to work as Alex Carpenter's effort around the net led to a tap in by Melissa Bizzari (9) at 16:39. The Friars pulled Bryant for the extra attacker and were awarded a power play with 1:20 remaining. BC was able to stave off the 6-on-4 disadvantage to leave Providence with a 4-3 win, their 14th victory in their last 15 games.
