Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Freshman Haley Skarupa’s five points, including the second hat trick of her career, helped BC (15-3-2, 10-2-1 WHEA) overcome a early deficit en route to a 7-2 win over Vermont (6-12-2, 4-4-2 WHEA) on Saturday.

Corinne Boyles won her 13th straight decision while stopping 16 shots to improve to 13-1-0 this season.  Roxanne Douville stopped 55 shots for the Catamounts to fall to 4-10-2.

The Eagles stormed the Catamounts goal early and often but Roxanne Douville kept them off the board for most of the period.  Douville robbed Taylor Wasylk with a sprawling stick save midway through the first period that gave Vermont some momentum.  The Catamounts cashed in on the power play on a re-direct by Kellie Dineen at 19:03 but the Eagles answered right back on a goal by Melissa Bizzari (6) with 18 seconds remaining in the first.  Shots on goal after 20 minutes were 15-6 in favor of BC.

Vermont’s power play struck again at the 7:25 mark as Klara Myren deflected a pass from Brittany Zuback over the shoulder of Boyles.  The Eagles then answered with three unanswered goals of their own to stake themselves to a 4-2 lead after two periods.  Alex Carpenter (15) buried a feed from Haley Skarupa at 10:54 followed by a backhand by Skarupa (16) that eluded Douville at 13:26.  Carpenter (16) scored on a 2-on-1 with 18 seconds remaining on a feed from Bizzari.  Shots on goal after 40 minutes were 33-13 in favor of the Eagles.

Skarupa completed the hat trick with back-to-back goals late in the third period as the Eagles registered 29 shots on goal in the final stanza.  Caitlin Walsh added her second goal of the season on a feed from freshman Meghan Grieves with 42 seconds remaining to close out the scoring.

Notes:  Alex Carpenter extended her point streak to 18-games (16-18-34) … BC has not lost since dropping a 3-2 decision to Minnesota-Duluth on October 25th … BC extends their unbeaten streak to 16-games (14-0-2) and their winning streak to 11-games, which are good for the longest streaks in team history … Dru Burns has now recorded points in her last six games (0-8-8) … Skarupa’s 18 goals now lead the team … the Eagles have now recorded four hat tricks this season, three of them from freshmen … three stars of the game: (1st) Haley Skarupa, (2nd) Alex Carpenter, (3rd) Roxanne Douville … Power Plays: Eagles 1-3, Catamounts 2-3 … final shots on goal were 62-18 in favor of BC.

BC will be back in action tomorrow as they play host to #4 Cornell at 2 p.m.
