Sarah Carlson enters the 2007-08 season with a year of coaching under her belt. She is a 2005 graduate of Boston College and was a two-time captain of the women's ice hockey squad.

While a student-athlete at BC, Carlson tallied 23 career points as a defenseman, and was named to the Hockey East first team during her senior season. Carlson did not miss a single game in her four-year career with the Eagles. The co-captain was a 2005 runner-up for Hockey East's Sportsmanship Award and a three-time Hockey East All-Academic. Before BC, Carlson participated in the Lake Placid Olympic Development Camp.

Carlson was named the 2005 Hockey Humanitarian, an award honoring "college hockey's finest citizen," and received the 2005 Coca-Cola Community All-American Award for being a student-athlete making a difference in her community. During the summer of 2004, she traveled to Mexico and volunteered building a church and running a vacation bible school. Carlson served as Bible study leaders and participated on a mission trip to inner city Boston to help in an after-school program. She has also volunteered at handicapped camps and worked with children and captained the moral team of the Dance Marathon to raise money for Children's Hospital.

Carlson graduated from BC's Connell School of Nursing in 2005.
