Joo and McQuiston Named To the All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team

Boston College women's golf team had two student-athletes - Katia Joo and Cristina McQuiston - named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the conference Commissioner John Swofford this morning.

All 11 ACC schools that compete in women's golf are represented on this year's academic team. Duke, Notre Dame, Miami and Wake Forest lead the way with four honorees each. Clemson, Florida State claimed three players apiece while Boston College, North Carolina and NC State each placed two players. Maryland and Virginia landed one player each to complete the team.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Joo, a native of Rolling Hills, California, is a three-time All-ACC academic team honoree. She is a three-time Athletic Director's Academic Achievement Award winner and a two-time All-ACC Honor Roll honoree. This past season, the junior competed in eight tournaments. Her low round for the season was a 71 at the Golf Week Challenge in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She placed 14th at the event. She shot a 72 and placed 12th at the Hoosier Fall Invitational which helped the team place seventh overall. Joo finished 39th at the ACC Tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina in May.

McQuiston, a native of Rome, Italy, played in nine tournaments and placed 25th at the ACC Tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina in May. The junior shot a low round of 70 on the second day. A three-time All-ACC Academic team honoree, McQuiston finished seventh at the Golfweek Challenge in South Carolina with a +5.

She placed fourth at the Hoosier Fall Invitational with a low round of 70 at Hickory Stick Golf Course. McQuiston, a three-time Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement, is also a two-time ACC Honor roll honoree.
