Muma, Norris to Play in Senior Game

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Seniors Virgynia Muma and Paige Norris will represent the Boston College field hockey team at the 2013 Front Rush/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Game on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Virginia Beach, Va., at 2:15 p.m. Muma was added to the roster as an alternate earlier in the week, while Norris was chosen on Oct. 31.

"I am happy that both Paige and Vinnie will have this opportunity to finish their career with this game," head coach Ainslee Lamb said. "The NFHCA always does such a great job to honor these selected elite players from across the country and each year the BC student-athletes who are afforded this opportunity always rave about the experience. Having both Paige and Vinnie represent BC at this event is fantastic. I am so proud of their accomplishments and participating in this game is one way that we can thank and honor them for their commitments and efforts to our school and the sport of field hockey over the last four years!"


Muma, a Falmouth, Mass., native was recently named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-Northeast Region First Team. The forward tallied 15 points on the year, notching seven goals and one assist. She finished her career with 33 points, scoring 14 goals and assisting on five. Last season, she was named to the all-region second team.

Norris, who hails from Victoria, B.C., earned NFHCA All-Northeast Region First-Team honors as a senior and a junior. The midfielder finished second on the team with seven assists. She also scored two goals to tally 11 points on the year. She ended her career with 22 assist and eight goals for 38 total points. She earned ACC Player of the Week on Sept. 24 for assisting on the game-tying and game-winning goals against a previously unbeaten Syracuse team and then scoring three points - a goal and an assist - in the win over Providence in the following game.
