Junior Virgynia Muma did not start playing field hockey until her freshman year of high school. She is now one of the top goal scores on the team. Here is a little bit more about the forward from Falmouth, Mass.

When did you begin playing field hockey?
I surprisingly began playing field hockey freshman year of high school. Originally, I started playing to be in shape for ice hockey season in the winter. I never imagined I would be playing Division I field hockey in college.

What was your most memorable achievement?
This sounds cliché, but honestly committing to BC was my most memorable achievement. BC was always my "dream school," and then to be recruited for field hockey was beyond expectation.

Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs: Dunkin is a basset hound and Bella is a chihuahua.

What would you be doing if you weren't a field hockey player?
I have always been around sports my whole life, so I can't imagine myself not participating in anything competitive in college. I would definitely join a club or intramural team to keep me active and to experience the team atmosphere, which is the best part about playing a sport.

Is there anything in life that you wouldn't do?
I would never go skydiving because heights scare me.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Michael Phelps is my favorite athlete because he always strives to the best and shows a lot of passion for his sport.

What is your favorite sport besides field hockey?
Ice hockey is definitely my other favorite sport. I played competitively for eight years growing up. It is a very entertaining sport to play and even watch because it is constant action throughout the game.

What is your favorite sports team?
The Boston Bruins. Hands down.

What would your dream job be?
My dream job would definitely be to work in an advertising agency. I enjoy developing creative ways to attract attention to certain products by studying the trends of the human population.

What motivates you in life?
My family and my teammates are my biggest motivation. I attribute my successes to their constant encouragement and support.

Do you have a pet peeve?
I don't like feet, especially when people put their feet up on my bed.

What do you do on plane rides?
I hate take off and landing, so I usually try to distract myself by talking to the person sitting next to me. For the rest of the flight I like to listen to my iPod and try to sleep.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Everyone on my team knows that before games I need to get very pumped up. A bunch of us have a certain playlist we listen and dance to in the locker room. I am quite superstitious, so I also have to have my game-day headband I wear for every game.

What is your favorite TV show?
Modern Family is my favorite show to watch because it always makes me laugh and it's easy to relate to.

What is your most played song on your iPod?
I do not know about a specific song, but Nicki Minaj is definitely played frequently.

What is your favorite team in the ACC to play?
UNC is my favorite team to compete against because they are always in the top-two spots; I love the challenge of rising to their level of play.
