Fourth-Seed Field Hockey Takes On Wake Forest in ACC Tournament

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The fourth-seed Boston College field hockey team, ranked 17th in the nation, will face fifth-seed Wake Forest in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. The winner will face No. 1 seed and host North Carolina (18-1, 5-0 ACC), on Friday.
The Eagles (10-8, 2-3 ACC) and the Demon Deacons (8-10, 1-4 ACC) have played each other in the last three opening rounds of the conference tournament. BC defeated Wake in the final regular-season game on Friday night, 2-1. Eight of the last nine meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal, including the last six. BC has won two of those one-point games and is still looking for its first ACC Tournament victory.
Junior Chapin Duke scored the game-winning goal against the Deacon, earning Co-ACC Player of the Week honors. She leads the team with 14 points, seven goals and three gamewinners. Sophomore Emma Plasteras and senior Jacqui Moorfield are tied for the team lead with four assists each. Freshman goalie Leah Settipane is ranked 37th in the nation with a 1.95 goals-against average and first in the ACC in saves (86) and saves per game (4.78).
Thursday's matches will be streamed live on theACC.com, ESPN 3 and the WatchESPN mobile application. The semifinals on Friday and the final on Sunday will be broadcast on FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Florida, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, and NESN in the ACC footprint.
Single-day tickets are available for $5, and all-weekend tickets are $10. Students from an ACC school can enter for free with valid student identification.
