Field Hockey Plays Wake Forest In Final Regular-Season Game
Oct. 26, 2012
Newton, Mass. - The 16th-ranked Boston College field hockey team will battle Atlantic Coast Conference foe Wake Forest in the final regular-season home game of the 2012 season at the Newton Campus Field Hockey Complex on Friday at 6 p.m. Senior captains Kara Mackintire and Jacqui Moorfield will be honored before the start of the game in their final home game of their careers.
The Eagles (9-8) and the Demon Deacons (8-9) are both 1-3 in the conference, both tallying wins over Duke. BC defeated the Blue Devils, in Durham, 2-1, on Sept. 28 and the Deacons beat them on Sept. 8 in a 3-2 double-overtime victory.
Wake leads the all-time series between the two teams, 11-2. Last year, the Eagles defeated the Deacons in the final regular-season game, 1-0, but the Deacons won the first round of the ACC Tournament against the Eagles, 4-3. The last seven of eight games between the two teams have been decided by one goal, including the last five played. Wake has won five the seven, including an overtime victory in the 2010 league tournament.
Both teams will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the ACC Tournament beginning on Thursday, Nov. 1. With the current standings, the two teams will land in the fourth and fifth seeds and play each other again in the opening round.
