Durko Overtime Goal Lifts Boston College over Boston University
Boston, Mass. - Senior forward Andrea Durko (Briarcliff, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal 30 seconds into overtime lifting the Boston College field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Boston University at Nickerson Field. Durko poked in the goal after Eagle back Anne Marie Ambros (Bridgeton, N.J.) deflected the ball away from the Terrier goalkeeper. The goal was Durko's fifth of the season.
The victory improved the Eagles' record to 3-2, snapping a two-game losing streak. The Terriers dropped to 1-3 despite outshooting the Eagles, 20-7.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead 23:30 into the contest on an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Lisa Roth (Selden, N.Y.), her first as a collegian. BU tied the score with a goal five minutes later.
In the second half, junior forward Joy Ramsbotham (Melvin Village, N.H.) put BC ahead with a goal off a penalty corner with 20:48 remaining.
