Boston College Field Hockey Drops First Game

Amherst, Mass. - The UMass-Amherst field hockey team scored two first-half goals and cruised to a 3-0 home victory over Boston College. It was the first loss of the season for the Eagles (2-1), who will host the University of Maryland on Friday night (7:30 p.m.) at Alumni Stadium.

Vicky Browne, Courtney MacLean and Erica Johnston each scored one goal and Zowie Tucker stopped six shots in goal for the Minutewomen, who improved to 2-1 on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Stacy Cichaski (Northampton, Mass.) had five saves for Boston College, which took only eight shots on goal after totalling 69 in their first two matches.
