Women's Field Hockey Defeats Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Junior midfielder Joy Ramsbotham scored on a penalty corner with 30 seconds remaining to lift No. 15 Boston College to a 3-2 victory over host Wake Forest on the rain-soaked turf at Kentner Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Boston College (11-6) got on the board early on a goal by Andrea Durko seven minutes into the game. The Demon Deacons (8-10) tied things up with a Jenny Everett goal at the 17:17 mark, and Samantha Rush scored just before halftime to put the Deacs ahead 2-1. BC's Katie Gentile made it 2-2 midway through the second half, and Ramsbotham netted the game-winner in the waning seconds of regulation on a direct corner shot.

Wake outshot BC for the game, 15-11, and held a slight 6-5 edge in penalty corners. Ramsbotham had a goal and an assist for BC, while Eagle netminder Stacy Chichaski had seven saves. For Wake, Jaime Tressler and Meaghan Nitka combined for five stops in goal.
