Boston College Wins Third Straight Game; Defeats 12th-ranked Duke, 4-2
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior midfielder Joy Ramsbotham (Melvin Village, N.H.) scored two goals and junior backs Anne Marie Ambros (Bridgeton, Mass.) and Janis Cornwell (Wolfeboro, N.H.) each added three assists as Boston College defeated Duke University, 4-2, in Alumni Stadium.
It was the third straight victory on the season for Boston College, now 8-4. Duke, ranked #12 in the nation, drops to 6-5.
The Eagles took a 2-0 halftime lead on two goals off penalty corners. In the second half, Duke's Emily Ford (Harwich, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal with 14:31 left, but Ramsbotham converted off a penalty corner to extend the Eagles' lead to 3-1 with 10:59 remaining.
Ford would score again with 7:18 left, but Boston College sophomore forward Julianne Marrone (Holden, Mass.) responded with a goal just 20 seconds seal the victory.
