Joy Ramsbotham is no stranger to Boston College field hockey, having graduated from Sherren Granese’s program in 1998 as one of Boston College’s most decorated field hockey players. Likewise, Ramsbotham is no stranger to the BC coaching staff, entering her third year as an assistant coach.
During her career at Boston College, Ramsbotham was a member of two BIG EAST Conference championship teams. She led her Eagle squads to the 1997 tournament title and the 1998 regular season championship. Ramsbotham was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America team three times, and also earned Northeast Region All-America accolades three times. She was a two-time BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Year (1997, 1998) and a three-time All-BIG EAST selection. In addition, she led the Eagles in scoring during two of her four seasons.
A native of Melvin Village, New Hampshire, Ramsbotham had a successful high school career as well. A four-year letter winner at Kingswood Regional High School, she and her teammates won two state titles (1992, 1994). In addition, she was a three-time Junior Olympian and played several years on the United States Under-21 team.
