Durko Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Player of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College senior forward Andrea Durko (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff HS) earned BIG EAST Field Hockey Player of the Week honors for the week ending September 7.

Durko tallied four goals and one assist in two Eagle victories, both of which came in the Boston College Field Hockey Tournament.

On Saturday (Sept. 6), Durko scored one goal and one assist in a season-opening 5-1 win over Southwest Missouri State. The following day, Durko scored three goals, her third career hat trick, as the Eagles shutout LaSalle, 5-0, in the championship game.

Durko, who has 73 points in 61 collegiate games, is one of the main reasons Boston College was the top pick in the 1997 BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll.

This week, the Eagles (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) will travel to Amherst to face UMass-Amherst on September 10 at 3:30 p.m. before returning home to host Maryland on Friday (Sept. 12) at 7:30 p.m.
