Women's Basketball Signs Three Players For 2013 Class

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team received three national letters of intent from recruits for the 2013 class, announced head coach Erik Johnson. BC is eager to welcome guards Emilee Daley from Sharon, Mass., Kelly Hughes from Point Pleasant, N.J. and Kami Mickens from Sleepy Hallow, Texas, to the program next season.

"This class gives us three great additions, both on and off the court. These are young women of high character and work ethic who excel in the classroom as well as on the court,'' said Coach Johnson about the incoming freshmen class. "Each is a perfect fit for Boston College as a University as well as for our team, our coaching staff, and our program. The BC fans will enjoy watching these young players develop and make major contributions to our program.''

Emilee Daley -- 6-2 -- Guard/Forward -- Sharon, Mass.

Plays for high school coach Bob Pipe of The Rivers School ... A three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz in the 2013 class ... Two-time ISL All-League selection ... Two-time New England (NEPSAC) All-Star ... Led Rivers to two straight New England Class B Championships ... Averaged 12 points and six rebounds a game as a junior ... Played at Sharon High School as a freshman and sophomore ... Has played for the Bay State Jaguars the last five seasons ... Helped the Jaguars win the Division 1 Mass. State Championship from 2009-2012 ... The team was also a semifinalist at the 2012 AAU Jr. Nationals, the 2012 Chicago Nike Invitational and won the 2012 Boo Williams Nike Invitational Championship.

"Emilee Daley is a 6'2" guard with deep shooting range who can also rebound and loves to take charges on defense,'' said Johnson. "Her upside is huge and she will help us stretch defenses immediately.''

Kelly Hughes -- 6-0 -- Guard/Forward -- Point Pleasant, N.J.

Ranked No. 44 by in the Class of 2013 ... Plays for coach Dave Drew at Point Pleasant Boro High School ... Led the team to three consecutive state sectionals ... Team captain as a junior and senior ... Ocean County Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior ... All-Shore first team as a junior and sophomore ... All-State second team as a junior ... All-State third team as a sophomore ... A two-time All-Group II first-team honoree ... Averaged 23 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 5.4 steals a game as a junior ... Has tallied 1,864 career points ... Played for the New Jersey Riptide and recently for the Philly Belles.

"Kelly Hughes is a tough, smart, versatile guard with a complete skill set. She is exactly the kind of guard who will be successful in our system. Her ability to handle the ball, score in a variety of ways, and most importantly play with her head up and use her passing ability will make an immediate impact on our team,'' said Johnson.

Kami Mickens -- 5-5 -- Guard -- Sleepy Hollow, Texas

Mickens is rated a three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz ... Played for South Lake Carroll High School in Texas ... Team captain as a junior and senior ... Three-time district champions ... Defensive team MVP ... Led South Lake to a 13-1 league record and 31-4 overall record ... Averaged 7.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.9 steals a game as a junior ... Named co-Defensive Player of the Year honors in District 7-5A ... Plays for Cy-Fair Shock ... Also runs track ... District 7-5A 400 meter champion in 2012 ... Member of the 4x400 relay team which on the District 7-5A championship in 2012.

"Kami Mickens is one of the quickest guards and most tenacious on-ball defenders I have seen in a long time. She changes the game defensively the minute she gets on the floor. As a point guard, her ability to drive and dish will set up our shooters for numerous opportunities,'' said Johnson.
