Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team released its non-conference schedule for the 2013-14 season this afternoon. The ACC is expected to release the conference schedule in early September.

The Eagles will host Stanford, Florida International, Boston University, Holy Cross, New Hampshire, Hartford and Mount St. Mary's. BC will hit the road for games at Hofstra, BYU, and Providence as well as at Wisconsin in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. The team will also take on Iowa, USC, and UNC Wilmington in Cancun, Mexico.

"In order to prepare our team to compete in the toughest conference in the collegiate women's basketball (ACC), we need to challenge ourselves through our non-conference schedule. Right away, Eagle fans will get to see the team battle Stanford, a perennial power featuring national player-of-the-year candidate Chiney Ogwumike,'' said BC head coach Erik Johnson. "Our defense will also be challenged when Florida International's Jerica Coley, the leading scorer in the nation last year, comes to Conte Forum.''

The Eagles will open the 2013-14 season at home against the highly-ranked Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. The two teams have played three times; the last time was a 77-69 victory for BC on Dec. 28, 2005 when Coach Johnson and Coach Hawkins were both assistant coaches at the Heights.

Two road games follow as BC will travel to Hampstead, N.Y. to play at Hofstra on November 12 and head west to play at BYU on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Eagles will return to the Heights to host Florida International on Tuesday, November 21 (7 p.m.) before taking off for the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico. BC will play three games in Mexico - UNC-Wilmington on Thursday, Nov. 28; Iowa on Friday, Nov. 29 and USC on Saturday, Nov. 30.

After the Thanksgiving break, BC remains on the road to play at Wisconsin on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Finally, the Eagles will stay home for four consecutive games - Hartford, on Sunday, Dec. 8; Boston University, on Wed. Dec. 11; New Hampshire, on Sunday, Dec. 15 and Holy Cross, on Saturday, Dec. 21.

A road trip to Providence on Sunday, Dec. 29 and a New Year's Day match-up with Mount St. Mary's in Conte Forum (1 p.m.) will finish the non-conference schedule for the Eagles.

"Our trip to Cancun will prepare us for tournament play with three games in three days against high level competition from major conferences in Iowa and USC. We will be tested on the road at BYU and their 6-foot-7 center Jennifer Hansom,'' said Johnson. "We will also play against some of the best programs in our region in Hartford, BU, Hofstra, Holy Cross, and UNH. Attacking this challenging schedule is an important part of our program making the next step in our development."
