Aug. 6, 2013
Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
The 57th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic honor roll, recognizing academic excellence by student-athletes during the 2012-13 academic year, was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. Boston College was ranked second in the ACC with 391 student-athletes honored by the conference.
The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. The conference acknowledged 2,909 student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.
The BC women's basketball team placed six players on the conference honor roll team. Senior Kerri Shields, junior captain Katie Zenevitch, sophomore Kat Cooper, junior Tiff Ruffin, freshman All-ACC Rookie team honoree Nicole Boudreau and the team MIP Alexa Coulombe all earned academic honors from the conference.
All six are first time honorees, while Boudreau was honored at the end of the season as an All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic team member. She was the first women's player to earn that honor since Carolyn Swords was named to the team in 2010-11.
The last time the women's basketball team at BC placed six players on the All-ACC honor roll was in the 2008-09 season.
