Women's Basketball To Play Wisconsin In Big Ten-ACC Challenge

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College will travel to Wisconsin on Thursday, December 5 in the seventh annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge, announced this afternoon by the two conferences.

This will be the sixth consecutive season Boston College has competed in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge. The Eagles are 2-3 in the series.

The game will mark the second meeting between BC and Wisconsin in the challenge. The two teams met in the 2010 challenge in Madison, Wisconsin. The Eagles lost to the Badgers, 58-50. BC was led by Shayra Brown with 11 points and Kristen Doherty added eight points and seven rebounds. Prior to that meeting, BC earned a 76-60 victory over the Badgers on Dec. 30, 2003. At the time, Boston College was ranked 22 in the country and improved to 10-1.

Last season, Boston College hosted Northwestern but lost, 67-63, on Nov. 28. BC was led by Katie Zenevitch with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Eagles biggest win in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge came in 2010 when BC defeated Penn State, 113-104, in overtime. The score set the single game program record for most combined points scored in a game (217).

In 2009, BC defeated Iowa, 72-67, at Conte Forum, while in 2008 the Eagles lost to Minnesota, 80-60, on Dec. 3, at the Williams Arena in Minneapolis. Boston College defeated Iowa, 72-67 on Dec. 2, 2009 at Conte Forum. On Dec. 2, 2010, BC defeated Penn State, 113-104, in overtime at Conte Forum.

The ACC is currently 41-27 in the overall challenge series.
