Coach Erik Johnson Reviews His First Season At The Heights

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College head coach Erik Johnson sat down to talk to women's basketball play-by-play talent Luis Sanchez '12 about the past season and the future.

The Eagles finished the season at 12-19 and went 5-13 in ACC play. The team defeated Georgia Tech, 74-68, in the last regular season home game of the season behind 20 points from Katie Zenevitch and 16 from Nicole Boudreau. Kristen Doherty added 13 points, five rebounds and six assists.

BC carried the momentum over and beat Virginia, 66-57, in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Senior Kerri Shields had 16 points and seven rebounds while Kristen Doherty had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead the Eagles. The team ended the season with a tough loss to third-ranked North Carolina, 62-57. With less than three minutes to play, Tessah Holt hit a layup to cut the UNC lead to one point. Holt went out after suffering an injury on the play. UNC pulled away in the final minute on four straight points.

BC was led by freshman Nicole Boudreau with 15 points, Kerri Shields added 14 points and seven rebounds while Tessah Holt had 12 points and six rebounds.

BC finished the regular season fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio, sixth in assists and field goal percentage and first in free throw percentage. Prior to the NCAA Tournament, BC was 44th nationally in free throw percentage, 33rd in three-point field goals per game, 49th in three-point field goal percentage, 71st in assists per game and 82nd in assist-to-turnover ratio.
