Boston College freshman guard Nicole Boudreau was named to the 2012-13 All ACC Freshman team today as released by the conference office this afternoon. Boudreau is the first BC freshman since 2007-08 to be named to the All-ACC Freshman team. That season, Stefanie Murphy won the Freshman of the Year and teammate Carolyn Swords was named to the All-ACC Freshman team.
"Nicole is one of those rare players who is able to play the game as a freshman with no fear, even at the very highest level of collegiate basketball here in the ACC. Her poise and confidence are well beyond her years,'' said BC head coach Erik Johnson. "Defensively, Nicole has to guard the opponent's best player every night. On offense, she has remarkable court sense and leads our team in assist-to-turnover radio. She is so deserving of this award and BC fans will get to enjoy watching her elevate her game for years to come.''
Boudreau was also named to the Blue Ribbon Panel All-Freshman team.
A native of Andover, Boudreau is the Eagles fourth leading scorer (11.2 ppg.) and is third in the ACC in three-pointers made (64). She is the second leading scorer in the ACC in the rookie class and is first in minutes played and three-pointers made.
Boudreau set a freshman record at Boston College for most three's in a season with 64. The previous high was held by Clare Droesch '05 with 48. She is also eighth among BC freshman on the all-time scorers list with 324 points, just nine points behind Amber Jacobs '00.
