Boston College is coming off a loss to No. 18 North Carolina at Conte Forum on Thursday night. The Eagles lost 80-52, despite 16 points from freshman Nicole Boudreau and 13 points and seven rebounds from junior Kristen Doherty. The Eagles will travel to North Carolina to play at Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon (2 p.m.).
This will be the second game this season between Wake Forest and BC. The two teams played at Conte Forum where BC fell in double-overtime, 92-87. The game on Sunday will be the 10th time BC and Wake Forest have played. The Deacs lead the overall series, 6-3.
BC has three wins in the ACC this season. Two victories came in mid-January, when BC defeated Virginia Tech and Clemson. It marked the first time the Eagles earned two straight ACC road wins since joining the conference.
The Eagles are 32nd in the nation and first in the ACC in free throw percentage (74.6%). The team is also ranked 30th in the nation and first in the ACC in 3-pointers made per game (6.9 per game). The team is fourth 60th in the nation and fourth in the ACC 3-point field goal percentage (32.9 percent).
Kerri Shields has played in 117 games while at Boston College.
Kristen Doherty has led BC in steals in her first two seasons. She currently leads the team with 36 steals. She moved into a tie in eighth place on the all-time list with two BC greats - Nicole Conway '02 and Clare Droesch '05, who both finished with 149 career thefts.
Katie Zenevitch is shooting 85.7 percent from the foul line, placing her second in the ACC in FT%.
In ACC play, BC is shooting 39.6 percent from the floor, 30 percent from the arc and 73.4 percent from the free throw line.
LAST THREE GAMES
BC is 1-2 in the last three games. The lone victory was at home against NC State on Jan. 31. The two losses were to No. 10 ranked Maryland and No. 16 North Carolina.
The Eagles are shooting 41% percent from the floor, 35% from the three-point arc and 76.8 percent from the free throw line.
Boston College has lost the battle on the boards, 121-80. BC has been beat on the offensive side, 42-18.
In the last three games, Kristen Doherty leads BC in scoring (15.7 ppg.) and rebounding (6.3 rpg.). Doherty is also 6-for-16 from the 3-point line in the last three games. Kerri Shields is averaging 12.7 points per game and has hit 9-for-16 from the arc. Freshman Alexa Coulombe has supplied 4.3 points and has three blocks and three steals in the last three games. She's averaging 15 minutes a game in the run.
