Former women's basketball player Amy LaCombe has been named Boston College's representative in the ninth annual class of 2013 ACC Women's Basketball Legends, announced Wednesday by the conference.
LaCombe was recently inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame. A native of Fayetteville, N.Y., LaCombe was a two-time captain for the Eagles between 1986-90. When she graduated in 1990, LaCombe was the seventh player in program history to pass the 1,000 point plateau as she finished with 1,147 points. She currently ranks 14th on the all-time scoring list.
Known as one of the top mid-range shooters in program history, LaCombe shot 50 percent from the floor as a sophomore and finished her career shooting 48 percent from the field. She led the team in scoring as a junior (13.5 ppg.) and played in 107 career games at BC.
LaCombe earned Big East All-Conference second team honors as a junior and third team in her senior season. She also was named to the Dial Classic All-Tournament team, Fairfield Warner Classic All-Tournament team and the Ohio State Classic All-Tournament team An accounting major, LaCombe received her M.S. and C.A.S. from Syracuse and an M.B.A. and PhD from Boston College. She currently is a senior lecturer at the Boston College Carroll School of Management.
The Legends will be honored at the 2013 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 7-10 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
