Overseas Update

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's basketball program has five former players currently overseas. Check in every week for updates on Carolyn Swords '11, Stefanie Murphy '11, Aja Parham '06, Brooke Queenan '06 and Kathrin Ress '07. Also, there is an update on former BC player Elisabeth Egnell. She played one season with BC and chose to return to her homeland, Sweden. Engell would have graduated in the 2010 with Mickel Picco and Ayla Brown.

Carolyn Swords, Ceyhan Bld, Turkey

Swords had 19 points and 15 rebounds in a loss to Keyseri on Dec. 30 ... She notched a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) in a win over Samun on Dec. 26 ... Swords is sixth in the league in scoring with a 16.6 points per game average and is fifth in rebounding (9.8 rpg.) ... The team is in seventh place and will play Edremit on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Stefanie Murphy, Slovakia

Many fans were lucky enough to see Stefanie Murphy at the Vermont game on Dec. 20. She signed with SBK Samorin in Slovakia over the winter break and arrived there last week. She has already played in three scrimmages and is averaging double-figures. Samorin is currently in third place (13-4) and will play the first place team, Good Angels on Saturday, Jan. 12. It will be a reunion for Murphy, as she will play against former Pecs 2010 teammate Ali Quigley.

Aja Parham, Cadi ICG Software, Spain

Aja helped lead Cadi to a 78-70 victory over Conquero in the Spain League. She notched 21 points, while shooting 5-for-6 from the floor. She also had two three's and five boards.

Kathrin Ress, Lucca, Italy

Stefanie Murphy was not the only player on the move over break. Kathrin Ress is now playing for Lucca in Italy. Ress started the season with Faenza, which folded over break. She notched 10.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game in A1 League. Lucca's next game is on Sunday, Jan. 13 against Priolo.

Brooke Queenan, Partizan, Serbia

Before the winter break, Queenan had 17 points and six boards in Partizan's win over VRSA, 97-56. Partizan's next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 9 against Vojvodina in International Cup competition.

Elisabeth Egnell, Norrkoping, Sweden

Egnell played one season at Boston College. She averaged 7.6 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. Engell returned to Sweden to play for the National team as well as professionally. She is playing for Norrkoping in Sweden and averaged 19 points a game.
