Boston College Defeats Providence 94-73 to Improve to 9-4 Overall
CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Five players scored in double figures to lead Boston College to a 94-73 victory over Providence College at Conte Forum tonight. The Eagles controlled the tempo of the game early, as sophomore guard Cal Bouchard scored 19 points and Boston College shot 70 percent in the first half.
Providence opened the game with a 5-0 lead, but the Eagles went on a 33-16 run and connected on five-of-eight three point field goals. Boston College outrebounded the Friars, 22-13, and led 52-32 at halftime. Providence opened the second half with a 12-6 run and cut the Eagles lead to 14 points with 14:21 remaining in the game. The Friars made one last run that cut the Boston College lead to 11 points with 6:12 left in the contest, but the Eagles bounced back and registered the 20-point victory.
Bouchard finishedwith 23 points and sophomore guard Alissa Murphy added 18 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Aimee McGuire scored 16 points, and junior forward Allison Booth netted 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Eagles. Junior center Whitney Steele scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Five players scored in double figures for Providence, led by by Monika Roberts' 16 points and seven rebounds. Jen Gombotz and Mandy Saunders each netted 13 points for the Friars. Kerri Sullivan scored 12 points and Meghan Hinds added 11.
Providence dropped to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the BIG EAST Conference, and Boston College improved to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the league.
