Boston College Drops Third Consecutive Game with a 48-35 Loss to Villanova
CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Boston College lost its third straight game as Villanova defeated the Eagles, 48-35, at Conte Forum today. The loss drops Boston College to 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the BIG EAST Conference. Villanova improved to 14-6, and 8-4 in the BIG EAST. Boston College shot 24.6 percent from the field, connecting on 14-57 attempts, and only scored 14 points in the second half.
The Eagles led Villanova, 21-19, at halftime, despite shooting only 29.6 percent (8-27) from the field. Villanova opened the second half with a 21-9 run and led the Eagles, 40-30, with 3:35 remaining in regulation. The Wildcats connected on eight free throws in the final minutes to secure the 48-35 victory. Boston College outrebounded Villanova, 45-36.
Today's game marked the second time this season that Villanova defeated the Eagles. The Wildcats defeated Boston College, 50-49, on January 3. Villanova's defense has held opponents under 60 points in 13 of the 14 victories.
Jenny Higgins led Villanova with 16 points, and Jenn Beisel added 12 points and eight rebounds. Alissa Murphy led Boston College with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Boston College's next game will be at Providence on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m. Villanova will play at Seton Hall on February 4 at 7:30 p.m.
