Boston College Victorious over Rutgers
Cal Bouchard Scores 28 Points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Cal Bouchard scored 28 points to lead Boston College to a 74-65 victory at Conte Forum tonight. The sophomore forward connected on nine-of-10 field goal attempts, including six three-pointers, and led the Eagles in rebounding with six.
Bouchard scored the Eagles' first 16 points as Boston College jumped out to an early lead and had a 14-point advantage with 2:00 minutes remaining in the first half. The Eagles led the Scarlet Knights, 34-23, at halftime.
Rutgers opened the second half with a 7-0 run and cut the Eagles' lead to 34-30. Boston College rallied and built a 12-point lead, but the Scarlet Knights continued to battle and cut the Eagles lead to 67-65 with 1:56 left in the game. Boston College connected on five free throws in the final minutes to secure the 74-65 victory.
Junior center Whitney Steele scored 13 points for Boston College. Natasha Pointer led Rutgers with 19 points and Shawnetta Stewart added 10.
Boston College improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, and Rutgers dropped to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the league.
