BC Falls on the Road to Miami
MIAMI--Senior forward Octavia Blue scored 30 points, including six three-pointers, to
lead Miami to a 85-79 victory over Boston College. The loss at
Miami was the second in the last three games for the Eagles.
Boston College
shot 68.2 percent in the first half, but trailed the Hurricanes, 44-41, at
halftime. Miami jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first five minutes of the game
and held the 10-point lead until the Eagles rallied with 11 minutes remaining in
the half.
Boston College went on a 14-4 run and tied the game at 25-25. Miami
pulled away in the closing minutes, as Blue connected on three three-point
baskets, and sophomore guard Gina Graziani added one field goal to give the
Hurricanes a 44-41 lead at halftime. Boston College went on a run early in the
second half and tied the game at 54-54, but Miami regained control and outscored
the Eagles, 31-25, to secure the conference victory.
Four players scored in
double figures for Miami, and the Hurricanes outrebounded Boston College, 43-29.
In addition to Blue, Kym Hope netted 17 points, and Jennifer Jordan and Graziani
each added 12 points. Boston College was led by Cal Bouchard's 23 points.
Whitney Steele netted 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Paula Bacso,
Alissa Murphy, and Jamie Cournoyer each added 11 points.
