Boston College Remains Undefeated in Big East Play
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team
registered its second consecutive Big East victory today, defeating West
Virginia, 64-45, at Conte Forum, and improved its record to 5-1 overall.
West Virginia shot only 24.2 percent for the game and the Eagles out
rebounded the Mountaineers, 48-36.
Boston College jumped out to an early lead, and with 6:27 left in the
first half, the Eagles led the Mountaineers, 25-9. West Virginia went on
an 8-0 run in the closing minutes of the first half to cut the score to
25-18 at halftime. The Mountaineers shot only 12.9 percent from the field,
connecting on only 4-of-31 attempts in the first half.
Boston College extended its lead in the second half with a 24-9 run in
the first 10 minutes. The Eagles outscored the Moutaineers, 39-27, in the
second half to secure the victory. Sophomore guard Cal Bouchard led the
Eagles with 14 points and junior center Whitney Steele added 11 points in
the victory. Senior Kim Beezer finished with eight points and seven
rebounds for the Eagles. West Virginia was led by junior guard Christie
Lambert's 12 points and six rebounds.
West Virginia dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big Eest with the
loss. Boston College will host Holy Cross on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:00
p.m.
