Boston College Defeats Georgetown in Conference Opener
Boston College won its first BIG EAST Conference game of the season at Georgetown on December 2, defeating the Hoyas, 70-60. Juniors Paula Bacso and Whitney Steele combined for 32 points and 19 rebounds. Bacso recorded a double-double, netting a career-high 18 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. Steele finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Senior guard Kim Beezer recorded 12 points and eight rebounds, and sophomore guard Cal Bouchard added 12 points for the Eagles.
Georgetown rallied from a 34-28 halftime deficit, and cut the lead to 42-39 with 14:15 remaining in the game when junior forward Sylita Thomas connected on four jumpers in a six-minute span. Bouchard converted two free throws to extend the Eagles' lead to 44-39.
Free throws by senior guard Kacy Williams moved the Hoyas to within three points, but junior Allison Booth hit three jumpers to open up a six-point lead with 9:21 remaining in the game.
Georgetown rallied again to tie the game at 54-54 with 6:33 left. Bacso and Steele combined for 10 points in the final six minutes to secure the win. Thomas led Georgetown with 16 points.
