Boston College Defeats Hartford, 73-47, to Improve to 6-2 Overall
CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. -- Junior forward Whitney Steele scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Boston College women's basketball team to a 73-47 victory over the University of Hartford at Conte Forum tonight. The victory improved the Eagles record to 6-2 overall and dropped the Hawks to 1-4.
After a quick start by Hartford, the Eagles went on a 10-0 run and led the Hawks, 18-8 with 8:54 left to play in the first half. Boston College added to its lead as junior forward Paula Bacso scored seven points and Allison Booth netted six in the closing minutes to give the Eagles a 34-21 lead at halftime.
Boston College went on a 19-9 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half and outscored the Hawks, 39-26, to secure the victory. Sophomore guard Alissa Murphy finished with 13 points and five rebounds for the Eagles and Bacso added nine points. Tracy Stolle led the Hawks with 13 points and six rebounds and Tiffany Rutledge netted 12 points.
After a break for exams, the Eagles will play an exhibition game on December 21 against Nor'Easter Storm and then travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to play in the Hawk Classic on December 28-29, hosted by St. Joseph's University.
