Senior Kristen Doherty led all players with 14 points and classmate Katie Zenevitch recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as the Boston College women's basketball team defeated Boston University, 63-52, on Wednesday night in Conte Forum.

Junior Lauren Engeln came through with 13 points and seven boards. Freshman Kelly Hughes notched 12 points and seven boards and junior Kat Cooper came through with 10 points. The Eagles out-rebounded the Terriers, 47-33, and had 22 points in the paint compared to BU's eight.

The win broke BC's two-game losing streak against its cross-town rival. The Eagles started off slow early in the first half. Hughes hit a trey with seven minutes to play in the half to bring the score within one, 17-16.

BC took the lead with a Doherty jumper at the 5:05 mark and went on an 11-5 run to take a 28-25 lead into the locker room. Doherty had seven points in the run.

The Eagles started the second half off on an early 7-5 run and Cooper hit a 3-pointer to give the Eagles a 38-30 advantage at the 15:32 mark.

The Terriers bounced back to bring the score within four with 14:26 to play, but two consecutive three-pointers by Hughes extended the BC lead to 10 points and it was all the Eagles from there.

Senior Danielle Callahan led Boston University (3-7) with 11 points and sophomore Clodagh Scannell came through with 10 points for the Terriers.

Boston College (5-5) will be back in action on Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m. as it hosts the University of New Hampshire in Conte Forum.
