Women's Basketball Tallies 65-45 Win Over Hartford

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Senior Kristen Doherty and classmate Katie Zenevitch each recorded 13 points and three other Eagles scored in double digits to lead the Boston College women's basketball team past Hartford, 65-45, on Sunday afternoon in Conte Forum.
Sophomore Nicole Boudreau finished with 11 points and eight boards. Junior Kat Cooper and classmate Lauren Engeln each finished with 10 points. Doherty also pulled in a game-high nine rebounds. The Eagles out-rebounded the Hawks, 48-26.
BC started off the first half on a 10-4 run with eight of those points coming from Engeln. The Hawks then bounced back and went on an 11-4 run to take a 15-14 lead at the 7:58 mark.
Freshman Kelly Hughes hit a 3-pointer with 6:19 left in the half to give the Eagles back the lead. BC kept the cushion the rest of the half and went on a 17-8 run to take a 31-24 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Eagles' shots started to fall. They went from a 38.2 field-goal percentage in the first half to shooting 60 percent in the second.
Out of the gate, Cooper, Doherty and Boudreau each hit consecutives threes to spark a 15-6 run and give the Eagles a 48-33 lead with just under 10 to play. It was all BC from there as the Eagles maintained a 14-point or higher margin the rest of the way.
Amber Bepko led Hartford (1-8) with 16 points.
Boston College (4-5) will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 11 as it hosts crosstown-rival Boston University at 7 p.m. in Conte Forum.
