Women's Basketball Loses To Syracuse, 71-47

Chestnut Hill, MA - - The Boston College women's basketball team lost to Syracuse, 71-47, in front of 1219 fans at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 12-15 and 3-10 in the ACC, while Syracuse is now 18-8 and 7-6 in the conference.
This was the first meeting between BC and Syracuse since the 2005 season.
The story of the day was Syracuse sophomore Brianna Butler, who hit six three's at the half and finished with 25 points on 7-for-14 shooting from long range. Brittney Sykes finished with 14 points. The Cuse hit 13-of-29 three's and shot 44.8 percent from long range.
BC was down, 9-2, in the first four minutes. A three by Brianna Butler extended the Syracuse lead to, 19-9, with 11:09 left in the half. It was her third three of the game. She would continue to hit three's as her fifth three of the half gave the Orange a, 40-20, lead with under three minutes left in the half. Her sixth three extended the lead, 43-23, with 1:57 to play. She finished the half with 18 points and had her team up, 43-25.
Syracuse shot 57 percent from the field and 60 percent from the three-point line. The Orange hit 9-of-15 three-pointers in the half. BC shot just 47.6% from the floor and went 5-for-10 from the three-point line.
Butler started the second half with a three-pointer to extend the lead, 51-25. Butler hit her first two-point field goal at 15:31 giving her 23 points and 53-28 lead. The Eagles never recovered as the Orange continued to press and hit long range shots.
